Large comfortable bedrooms with air conditioning, Evening "Tapas style" meals can be taken on the terrace and are a reasonable price.
Breakfasts are appalling for the price charged, Initial quantities of hot food provided are inadequate and staff do not monitor and replenish when required, Consequently often the hot plates are empty. The Hotel appears to be under resourced resulting in stressed unmotivated staff who are not customer friendly, Complaints about the standard of breakfast were dismissed by the reception staff. Overall bar/restaurant service is very slow and frustrating due to inadequate staffing levels. The pool area suffers from a lack of maintenance with weeds around the pool area, it was clear the pool had not been cleaned for some time as the same debris (tissues) could be seen floating in the pool during the duration of our stay. This Hotel is not up to the four star rating, is not comparable with other Paradors we have used and gives the Parador brand a bad name.
The view is fantastic and the rooms are very pleasant and comfortable.
I didn't find the reception staff very welcoming and outdoor service for drinks took ages.
The views of Malaga from the Hotel are spectacular! Make sure when booking you ask for a room with a view.
The staff are not the friendliest. The rooms need a little maintenance and they are a bit noisy. Also, if you are going there for a romantic weekend, insist on a room with a double bed, apparently they only have 3 rooms with double beds!!!
The incredible view from the room (could see a pamoramic view of Malaga even when in bed!)
Walking uphill to it (walking down was ok!)
Without doubt this hotel served the best breakfast in terms of choice and quality that we have ever experienced.
Very elegant, very spanish good food and situated in a great location with stunning views.
rooftop pool and view, terrace
a/c didnt work Food not to my taste
just to be away relaxing for a couple of days and having to actually do nothing
The cleanliness of the pool could be improved
The facility is beautiful, historic and has awsome panoramic views!
Arrived somewhat late at night on Thurs.10/6/'10 to a wonderful outdoor atmosphere. We thought there may have been a Spanish wedding, but it transpired that they had just opened their outdoor bar for the season! Female singer and live band playing outside. There was a great 'buzz' about the hotel! Sat outside and enjoyed a few drinks, after a somewhat fraught trip from Malaga airport, which is very nearby...hard to believe that a hotel as nice as this (in the countryside) is so near the airport! Great to arrive to such magnificent night views of the bay. Great nights sleep in a relaxed atmosphere. We were very impressed with the breakfast too, which was delicious with a great variety from which to choose. Would definitely stay here again.
Couldn't say that there was anything much we didn't like about this hotel, eventhough we only stayed there for 1 night! We arrived at about 10.30 pm and we were hungry. The menu by this time, was somewhat limited, so unfortunately we just had a light snack, which wasn't very exciting. However, I would imagine that during the daytime, their food is good and plentiful, particularly if breakfast is anything to go by....superb!
The views are excellent from this hotel.
My previous experience with this Parador was 40 years ago when I had a business in Spain and it was fantastic then. I was worried that my memories might be spoiled by revisiting, but not at all. The property has been fantastically maintained. The standards, staff, food and facilities are beyond reproach. The staff are friendl, helpful and unobtrusive. What you see on the photos are what you get on site. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Visit and enjoy.
The parador is situated next to the castillo and therefore is high above the city. There is a local bus to take you down into the city but otherwise the taxi trip can be pricey. On the plus side the position means that the views are quite amazing and the hotel does have a romantic feel. The quality of dining in the restaurant is excellent and the staff here are quite amenable. Breakfast is generous and relaxing and coffee on the terrace outside offers more of the fabulous views over the city and the coast. A deal that includes breakfast is worth hunting for and the menu in the evening was not too overpriced considering the location and standard of the hotel.
Our room was supposedly a non-smoking room but there was a distinct smell of cigarette smoke despite there being no ashtrays in the room. I have to agree with other visitors that the welcome given by reception staff is very cool and questions often ignored or answered with a shrug.
The bedroom suite we had was lovely with a great view. Just loved the whole Parador experience
My only comment would be the bedroom was very hot.
